Grammar as a survival tip? Sounds like a joke, I know, but hear me out!

We’ve all been there, right? Those few weeks between Thanksgiving break and winter break are tough. Everyone is in the holiday spirit, students are restless, and getting them to focus is a challenge.

You certainly don’t want to introduce something new right before a long break. But you can actually take this awkward time in the school year and turn it into something fun and meaningful with a Christmas grammar review.

We’re all just trying to make it through these last few weeks

Students are tired, but so are we! It’s been a long few months, and all we want to do is keep things simple and just make it to the break. We understand that students are restless, and we want to give them fun and festive activities during the countdown to winter break. But we also want them to be engaged in meaningful activities that will reinforce important skills.

Give your students (and yourself!) the gift of 12 Days of Christmas Grammar

That awkward period during the first part of December is actually the perfect time to give your students a thorough review of many of the concepts that they have already learned. Close out the year reviewing and practicing all those skills you’ve previously covered.

A quick review at the end of the year will be a good refresher for some of the concepts that may not have been covered for a while. And students will be more likely to remember them when they return in January.

A grammar review is great, but it’s even better with festive Christmas-themed activities! This 12 Days of Christmas grammar review has students building up their skills with a new grammar concept added every day.

For each day, they’ll get one sheet with a mini lesson on a specific grammar point, a short practice activity, and a related writing prompt. Students will love the Christmas and winter themes of the grammar and writing activities.

The writing activity is a fun way to practice the skills covered in the grammar review each day. Students will also get an editing card prompting them to check their work carefully to make sure that they have correctly applied the grammar concept of the day and (in keeping with the spirit of the song) also check for each of the grammar points from the previous days.

So students get a gift of grammar each day, and you get the gift of time saved by not having to put together all the lesson and practice materials to cover this review!
