Fun Twosday Activities That Your Students Will Love!
Are you ready for TWOS-day? If you’re anything like me, you want to find some fun activities to celebrate this special date! I have put together a list of Twosday activities that are perfect for students of all ages! You will find plenty of ideas here for upper elementary, middle school and even adult ESL students.
Of course, these Twosday activities were specially created for this once-in-a-lifetime date of 2/22/22, but they can really be used any time. Whenever the 2nd or 22nd of a month falls on a Tuesday, it’s a perfect time to use these activities that celebrate all things related to the number two. They make fun icebreakers, brain breaks, or bell ringers any time of year!
Here are a few ideas for Twosday activities, including a no-prep FREEBIE!
Using Scrabble tiles, students make mini crosswords of 2 words totaling 22 points. (Keep reading to get a printable activity sheet that you can use instead of tiles.) Students make an acrostic to spell out their name, using words that describe them or that relate to them in some way. In this TWOS-day twist, students should work with the second letter of each word, rather than the first. For example, if I were to spell out my name (Donielle), I might write:
Make a list of 22 pairs of words, for example:
2 things that often go together (like salt and pepper) Make a list of things that generally come in pairs (such as shoes) Make a list of things that are a single object, but are referred to as a pair (such as glasses, scissors, jeans, etc.) Make a list of 22 words that rhyme with the word TWO. Give students 2 minutes to make as many words as possible using the letters in TWENTY TWO. Learn how to count to 10 (or say a phrase) in 2 different languages. This would be especially fun to do with an ESL class and discuss the different languages represented in the class. Make a list of phrases that contain the words two, double, twice, etc. You could also give them a list of phrases (I have one already prepared for you!) to discuss the meaning of each and practice using them in sentences. This is a great way to learn new vocabulary, especially for English learners. Use a choice board for students to choose from a variety of Twosday activities. (I have one already prepared for you!) |
